Short film competition 2022/2023

• Contest reserved for students in grades 7 to 12 (reserved for French or immersion schools of Alberta)

• The short film can be done individually or in teams (maximum 3 students per team)

• The short film will be an advertisement and will relate to one or more real or imaginary subjects. You can also choose to participate in open cathegory. No existing brand should appear in the project.

• Special category: Resident students of Alberta who are registered for at least one course at Modern Languages Department of Université of Lethbridge in Alberta.

• You can film with any type of device (phone, camera, camcorder, etc.) and mounted on any type of software.

• Minimum resolution must be 1280x720p

• The sound quality must be irreproachable (voice and dialogue and tape are clear and understandable)

• The file must be in (.mov), (.avi) or (.mp4) format

• The duration of the short film: from 2 minimum to 5 minutes maximum

• All the dialogues must be in French as well as the scriptures. One (1) or two (2) sentences or slogan (written or spoken) in all other languages ​​will be allowed, only if it has a concrete connection with the story (all dialogues or slogans in another language must be subtitled in French)

• Projects must be submited before Monday, February 28th 2023 at 11:59pm

Any production containing violence, vulgarity, sexist, racist or defamatory remarks will result in immediate disqualification from the project. Any form of plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification from the project.

A production may be disqualified if it does not meet one or more of the criteria of the above regulations.

• The quality of French (written and spoken)

• The script (originality, coherence, duration)

• The production (quality of film and editing)

• Soundtrack quality (voice, music)

• Respect of time (duration included in the imposed criteria)

Category grade 7 & 8 (in each of 2 category)

1st place : $200 - 2nd place : $100 - 3rd place : $50

Category grade 9 & 10 (in each of 2 category)

1st place : $200 - 2nd place : $100 - 3rd place : $50

Category grade 11 & 12 (in each of 2 category)

1st place : $200 - 2nd place : $100 - 3rd place : $50

Category special University (in each of 2 category)

1st place : $200 - 2nd place : $100 - 3rd place : $50

Audience Award (all category)

1st place : $200 - 2nd place : $100 - 3rd place : $50  

Best movie (All category included) : $300
